We filmed this trick in the year 2001 and I first got inspired by David Copperfield routine called Torn & Restored baseball card, later on, I found out that he actually got it from Chris Kenner. No one had revealed this technique so I just figure it out myself; later, watching David Copperfield TNR routine with this idea I got, I found out that he spoil himself when trying to restored the second piece due the slight shadow reflection on his shirt which can be noticed only with good quality video because you can see the second piece retracting as I just first figure out.
My challenge for this video was to be able to accomplish this performance without any camera cut; it was so complicated to get it down that it took me and my wife over 2 months to accomplish it. Which after all I end up doing one camera cut believing that it will deceive people more.
But this is one of those videos that I don’t think I’ll film again at least it is a legitimate live routine. But I have to admit that this is one of those videos that if you use video editing skills mixing real with this only on TV routine, you will fool a lot of TV audience (which I am not encouraging).
